Compensation of Academic Loss Programme (CALP)
The Compensation of Academic Loss Programme (CALP) is an initiative designed to address and mitigate the educational setbacks experienced by students due to disruptions in their learning processes. These disruptions can be caused by various factors, including natural disasters, conflicts, pandemics, or other emergencies that lead to prolonged school closures or limited access to educational resources.
The main objectives of CALP are to:
- Assess the extent of academic loss: Evaluate the gaps in knowledge and skills that students have experienced due to interruptions in their regular education.
- Implement targeted interventions: Develop and deploy strategies to help students catch up on missed content and reinforce their understanding of key concepts. This can include remedial classes, tutoring, and the use of technology to facilitate learning.
- Support teachers and educators: Provide training and resources to teachers to help them effectively address the learning gaps and adapt their teaching methods to meet the needs of students.
- Engage parents and communities: Involve parents and community members in supporting students’ education and creating a conducive learning environment at home.
- Monitor and evaluate progress: Continuously assess the effectiveness of the interventions and make necessary adjustments to ensure that students are making adequate progress in their learning.
CALP often involves a combination of face-to-face and remote learning strategies, leveraging digital platforms and educational technologies to reach students who may still be facing barriers to attending school in person. The programme aims to ensure that all students, regardless of their circumstances, have the opportunity to achieve their academic potential and recover from any losses in their educational journey.
